Information commissioner Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakr has requested information officers of government offices to provide information swiftly as soon as it is requested.
He said this speaking at the end of a training program held for information officers. He said that the best practise is to give as much information as possible instead of withholding information. He added that, easy access to information will reduce corruption.
The Information commissioner said that there will be a special prize for government institutions which publicizes information efficiently. He also said that they are ranking the institutions based on how they make information available to the public.
“We will choose number 1, 2 and 3. But this time we are just checking the amount of information available on websites” said the Commissioner.
Participants of the training program were given certificates by the Information Commissioner at the end of the ceremony held at Orchid lounge of IGMH.
