Dr. Mohamed Iyaz Abdu Latheef has called on Broadcasting Commission to resign if they are unable to say the just thing.
The former head of Fiqh Academy made the statement in connection to the verdict issued by the Commission over a scantily clad woman on the MACL float for the 51st independence day parade.
Dr. Iyaz said that “heads of independent institutions have to be impartial and fulfill their mandate justly. The Commission’s decision over the broadcast of images from the float parade for the 51st independenc day promoting public indecency was unjust”.
He noted that if we view immoral behavior as just and right then our destruction was imminent. “If the Commission fails to speak for the truth, then the best option for both the Commission and the public is resignation,” he said.
