International Institute of Islamic Thought has given 4 PhD scholarships to Islamic University of Maldives.
The fields that the scholarship can be taken include education and Islamic studies. However, IUM has the option to choose which 4 areas they would like the scholarship from.
IUM says that the scholarship will be offered at Islamic University of Malaysia and the scholarship recipients will get pocket money in addition to the tuition fees. These scholarships will be given to senior staffs and academic staffs of the university aiming to improve the quality of education at IUM.
IIIT had a huge role in founding the Islamic University of Malaysia. IIIT is known for doing Islamic research, providing scholarships, and promoting the religion.
The central office of IIIT is located in Washington DC. They have offices in Jordan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. IIIT has played roles in founding many universities and schools in Islamic countries. Last month they held an international conference at IUM. In the conference professors from 50 universities participated. IIIT have said that they will help to develop Islamic University of Maldives.
