Indian HC H.E Akhilesh Mishra Extends Eid Greetings
My wife Reeti and I would like to extend to all Indian and Maldivian friends, brothers and sisters celebrating the Holy Eid Al Adha our heartiest greetings, good wishes and prayers.

As a multicultural, multi-religious, pluralistic democracy, India is proud of its extremely rich and ancient Islamic heritage dating back to the 7th century. The first Indian mosque, the Cheraman Juma Masjid in Thrissur district of Kerala, was built by Arab traders around 629 AD. India has the second largest population of Muslims in the world.

As a representative of India in Malé, I have been inspired and deeply touched by the profound cultural, linquistic, religious and spiritual affinities with the people of Maldives. I look forward to actively working together with all Maldivian friends to further strengthen the people-to-people ties of friendship and cooperation.

In the true spirit of Eid, we pray for the blessings of devotion & submission to the Almighty and virtues of piety, humility, kindness and compassion towards all. Heyo Dhua.

Wa Salaam Aalaikum,

With warm regards,
Akhilesh Mishra
High Commissioner of India
