Throwing pebbles at Jamarat is one ritual that gives immense happiness to the Muslims. When throwing the pebbles everyone feels that they are throwing it at the devil.
Even though a limited number of pebbles should be thrown, some people throw water bottles and slippers with all their might.
The ritual of throwing pebbles at Jamarat is to enact, the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim, when he threw stones at the devil when the devil tried to corrupt Prophet Ibrahim’s mind on the day when Allah commanded him to sacrifice Prophet Ismail.
The devil tried to stop Prophet Ibrahim from sacrificing Ismail by saying that if he does that, other people might try to sacrifice their own kids as well. The ritual of today is as enactment of Prophet Ibrahim’s act of stoning the devil.
We all should keep in mind that the devil will not wish well for us and we should be aware of how dangerous he could be.
