Will make the public transport services beneficial for everyone: Junaid

CEO of MPL Mr. Mohammed Junaid have said that he will make the public transport services by MPL in Addu and Fuvahmulah beneficial for the people.

Speaking to Miadhu, Junaid said that they are only not focusing on providing the transport service, but they also want to create more jobs and economic opportunities for the people of these two atolls.

“The first phase is making sure that people can travel from one island to the other conveniently, that phase is now going on. Next is the most important part; that is increasing the income of people. That can be done by arranging transportation of goods. We are doing work to arrange that now” said Junaid.

Junaid said that Fuvahmulah is famous for farming and that there is market in Addu for their products. He said that MPL will start a cargo ferry between Addu and Fuvahmulah soon. He said that this will be beneficial for people from both these atolls.

He also said that, they will also find an easy way to transport goods from Addu and Fuvahmulah to Male’.

If such a service is arranged, people who want to sell their products in Male’ can do it easily. Also they will get good prices for their products. Seasonal fruits like mango have a good market in Male’ often.
