Surveys have been conducted to build a third airport in Huvadhu Atoll.

Surveys have been conducted in Gdh.Fiyoree and Gdh Faresmaathodaa to build a third airport in Huvadhu atoll.

The surveys were conducted by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. In this project, a 150-meter-wide and 1200-meter-long runway will be built.
It is expected that the runway will be constructed in Faresmaathodaa. A council member of Faresmaathodaa revealed to the media that, they have received blueprints of the airport which will be constructed in FaresMaathodaa.

However, the council member also raised concerns because the proposed area for the development of the airport is currently being used as a waste dumping ground by the islanders. Also some islanders are residing in some of the areas proposed to build the airport.

Nonetheless, the council and the islanders fully understand the importance of the
