Health Protection Agency have said that, authorities and the public should be careful about the spread of dengue in the current weather.
HPA said that the spread of dengue is decreasing but the public should be mindful of the seasonal rainfall and destroy mosquito breeding grounds. Figures show that in June 2016, 352 cases of dengue were reported. In July it was 309 and in August the figure dropped to 147.
So far in this month 30 cases were reported. HPA said that increased rainfall will increase the chances of mosquito breeding. Dengue is spreading at a fast rate in neighboring Sri Lanka and India as well. The best way to stop the spread of dengue is preventing mosquitoes from breeding.
