STO has started to modernize their food storage warehouse. Speaking to Miadhu News, the MD of STO Mr. Ahmed Shaheer said that at present they are storing in very old warehouses and hence now they are trying to modernize their warehouse up to international standards.
Mr. Shaheer said that, the industrial village being developed by the government is for such purposes and that they plan to develop the warehouses in that village.
“We are discussing with Housing Ministry, to make the necessary arrangements, we hope it will be arranged very soon” said Mr. Shaheer.
Mr. Shaheer said that these warehouses will be developed according to international standards. He said that these will be multi-storied warehouse and all goods imported by STO except medicine will be stored in these warehouses.
Mr. Shaheer said that latest meeting of SAARC Food Bank was held in Maldives and in the meeting it was decided that in case of a disaster food will be sent to Maldives from Closest destination like Sri Lanka or India, and now, there is no fear of food shortage.
