A Maldivian government official has said that there is no basis to take action against the Maldives unless to topple the government and make Forner President Nasheed the President of Maldives.
Speaking to Miadhu News, the official said that, there is nothing going on in Maldives, where CMAG or any other international organization should take any action against Maldives and a through investigation will prove this.
Talking about the report by Al Jazeera, he said that the documentary showed there was no proof of any money laundering activity happening in the Maldives, further in the report it is stated that they couldn’t find any evidence.
“then they showed some text messages, if we look at it carefully it can be seen that the dates and time of the text messages are inconsistent. It does not make any sense at all” said the official.
He further said that the opposition are advocating for actions against the Maldives in an international level because, they know that they have no chance of winning the election in 2018. “they think that if some action is taken against the Maldives, people will protest and topple the government, or that they can win the election in 2018, but this is impossible, they must be dreaming” said the official.
He said that if any action is taken against the Maldives, the people of Maldives will never forgive those who are advocating for these actions. He also said that it will not be possible to topple the government through such actions and they also cannot win the election in 2018.
“Not only the presidential election, the opposition cannot win the local council election either” said the official.
