State Bank of India have said that they will help Maldives in any endeavor that will benefit the Maldivian economy.
In a ceremony held to officially launch the 3rd Maldives Investment Forum, the COO of SBI Mr.Shankar Narayan said that they are helping the government even now. He said that they provided the government with 100 million dollars after buying bonds from the government. (During MDP Governmeny)
Mr.Shankar also highlighted the fact that they have signed an agreement with MMA to provide loans to small businesses without any collateral. SBI is the first private bank in Maldives to sign the agreement.
He said that even in future, SBI will remain as an important partner to the Maldives and will provide assistance in more schemes.
SBI is the first commercial bank to be opened in Maldives. They have been operating in the Maldives since 1974. SBI is also the first Indian investment in the Maldives.
