At a press conference held by MNDF today, they said that the conference will be held in Kurumba Maldives and that experts from 25 countries UN and special experts will participate in the conference.
Speaking to the press, Colonel Abdul Raheem said that the aim of the conference is to know how other countries are dealing with counter terrorism and extremism problems, to learn more from knowledge from them so that Maldives can solve these problems.
Abdul Raheem said that the biggest partners to the Maldives in counter terrorism are India and USA. He also mentioned that Local Counter terrorism Center receive help of some other neighboring countries too.
Defense MinisterMr. Adam Shareef Umar said that MNDF is always prociding training to be well prepared for any terrorist activities. He said that even now there are some trainings going on in the North of the vountry.
Colonel Abdul Raheem said that, MNDF helps all the resorts in Maldives to be safe from a terrorist attack. He said that, they train people in the field of counter terrorism and also train security guards. He also said that they have a focal point in all the resorts to maintain a line of communication.
A conference on counter terrorism and extremism is to be held in the Maldives.
