Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra has visited IGMH to see the ongoing repair work of IGMH which is being funded by the Indian government.

IGMH is the largest hospital in the Maldives and serves the most number of people in the Maldives as well. Indira Ghandi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) was constructed with aid from India, during Rajeev Ghandhi’s administration.

Over the years, India has helped numerous times to repair and renovate the hospital. In addition, Indian government helps to train doctors, nurses, and other technical staffs needed for the hospital.

The current administration also has brought numerous changes to the hospital to provide better services. Even now there are ongoing projects to upgrade the services provided by IGMH.

When IGMH first opened, the foreign doctors who worked at IGMH were given accommodation at IGMH. However, to increase the capacity of the hospital, the accommodation areas have also been transformed to give health services.
