The first guest house conference of the Maldives has started in Darubaaruge this morning. The participants of the conference aim to achieve a lot within a short period of time.

Their target is to bring 500,000 tourists to Maldives by 2020. That is around 40% of the current tourist arrival rates. If we look at the rates of guest house development within the atolls, it is possible to bring 1 million tourists as well.
At the moment government is developing various domestic airports within the atolls. In 2 years a number of new airports will be operational and this will aid guest house businesses as well.
The guest house conference was sponsored by Dhiraagu, STO and other major companies in the Maldives.
Maldives is famous around the world for natural beauty and as is a luxurious destination. Since Guest are being built at new Islands, There is a good demand to experience News Islands.
Today’s conference was attended by 150 guest house operating in the Maldives and other experts in the tourism industry as well.
