A convention aiming to further develop the Maldivian tourism industry has begun. The convention is attended by key figures in the tourism industry and tourism related authorities in the government.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the convention, Tourism Minister Zameer said that the aim of the convention is to identify the challenges faced by the industry and also to identify key areas where tourism sector can be further developed. He also said that the convention will be a platform where government and pioneers in the industry can work together to identify the challenges and room for progress.
Zameer said that some key areas that will be discussed during the convention include, human resources, youth, environment and air transport.
Foreign experts are also participating in the convention to provide insights.
Zameer said that high level resorts and other different types resorts will open all over the country as part of the government effort to further develop the industry. He highlighted the importance of making the human resources readily available for the new resorts that are going to open.
Zameer also said that, the number of tourist arrivals should be increased year by year.
