A 1-day workshop to discuss about the new tourism master plan has begun today as an initiative of the tourism ministry to further develop Maldives Tourism.
The workshop was launched at Dharubaaruge this morning by Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer. Around 110 people from the tourism sector are taking part in the workshop.
A record number of tourist resorts will open within the 5-year term of this administration. This year alone 4 resorts has already opened while it is expected that 9 more resorts will open within the year.
Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer said that, since the tourism industry is developing at a fast pace, it is important to have a compatible tourism master plan. He also said that guest house based tourism has also brought revolutionary changes and it is of importance to find ways to develop both guest house and resort based tourism successfully.
It is important for Maldives Tourism to formulate a tourism master plan, which will cover all these areas of the tourism industry.
