LPU to award 5 scholarships named after President Yameen
Lovely Professional University (LPU) of India has announced that they will award 5 scholarships in the next two years, which will be named after President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.

The decision was announced by the director of Lovely Professional Trust, Mr.Aman Mittaal. He announced it during a ceremony held this morning at Coast Guard building to sign an MOU with MNDF to train people who will create awareness on counter terror related activities.

Mr.Mittaal praised the work President Yameen is doing to develop Maldives. He said that the development Maldives has seen in social services is noteworthy. “These are not services that we can get in India or any other country without spending a lot of money” said Mittal.

Mr.Mittal said that he visited Maldives 8 years ago and within the last 8 years Maldives has achieved a lot. He said that Maldives was able to see this much development within a short span because of the capable, visionary leadership of the country.

“I have talked with a lot of people. From what they say I understand the amount of work President Yameen is doing to develop this country. His vision is not only to make Maldives a developed country within the SAARC region, but a developed country in an international level” said Mittal.

LPU is a University run by Lovely Professional Trust India, in the Punjab state. Around 30,000 full time students study on campus while 100,000 students are distant learners. The university has around 3500 staffs of which most are academic staffs. More than 20,000 students from 50 different countries study at the university. There are Maldivian students studying at the university as well.
