MNDF and Lovely Professional University of India has signed a memorandum of understanding to train professionals who will create public awareness on terrorism.
Speaking at the ceremony held this morning at Coast Guard Building, to sign the MOU, Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar said that LPU is one of the top universities in India for this field and they have reached impressive milestones in creating public awareness on terror related activities.
The minister further said that, when Maldivian institutions start working with this university, the institutions of Maldives will be further developed.
He also said that, the purpose of this agreement is to train professionals who will work in counter terrorism activities initiated by President Yameen.
In addition, he said that under this agreement, people who will create public awareness on terrorism all around the Maldives, will be trained
“We will get the opportunity to train security professionals at a low cost, under this agreement. Also we are getting help from the Indian government to create public awareness on terrorism. Hence, this agreement will be very beneficial for the counter terrorism programs we have started in the Maldives” said the Minister.
Adam Shareef said that, because of these programs, Maldives will be among those countries which work relentlessly against terrorism universally.
