Dr. Shainee said that, the government has not received any information about the report which the media has reported about saying that it is from the report of the envoy. “So it is too early for the government to comment on it. Government will take necessary steps based on the report if there are any that needs to be taken” said Dr.Shainee.

Dr. Shainee said that, often Maldivian media tend to misreport, reports made about the Maldives by foreign organizations and it is important to make sure that the ongoing reports about the Commonwealth envoy is valid.

The Commonwealth envoy, Dr. Willy Mutunga a former Kenyan Judge visited the Maldives twice in the past few months and met with government and the opposition. Commonwealth earlier said that they appointed the special envoy as per the request of the Maldivian government.
