A Maldivian Embassy has been opened in Berlin, Germany.
According to Foreign Ministry, the embassy was officially opened by Foreign Minister Dr.Mohammed Asim.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Dr.Asim noted how close both Maldives and Germany are and said that 2016 marks the 50th year since Maldives established diplomatic relations with Germany.
The ceremony was attended by foreign diplomats in Berlin as well as Maldivian diplomats in Europe.
With this embassy now Maldives has 3 embassies in Europe.
Germany is among the top European countries that tourists to Maldives visit from. In addition, the largest tourist fair in the world, “Berlin Fair” is also held in Germany.
