Islamic Minsiter Dr.Ziyad Baaqir has called to recite, and act upon the Quran.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of National Quran Competition, Dr.Ziyaad said that it is evident from the verses of the Quran that Quran was revealed to show people the one true path. He said that there is no other perfect way to live, other than the ways mentioned in the Quran.
“Quran was revealed to show the true path. So Quran should be researched. It should be memorized. Quran competitions are held among people who do these things” said the Minister.
Dr.Ziyad said that those who act upon the Quran will not go astray. He advised everyone to act in accordance with the principles shown in the Quran.
One of the most important things mentioned in the Quran is implementing the punishments set by Allah for certain crimes. However, it is noticed that in Maldives these punishments are not implemented as asked in the Quran. A lot of people raise concerns especially because criminals are not punished according to Islamic Shariah.
Hence, as the Islamic Minister, the message given by Dr.Ziyaad is very important for the government to act as Allah ha revealed in Quran .
