3 landing crafts to be built for waste disposal in Male’ area
An Indian company has been contracted with building three landing crafts to use in waste disposal of greater Male’ area. The company is Vijay Marine Shipyard which belongs to Goa of India.

According to Waste Management Corporation, the work should be completed within 6 months and the total cost of the project is 35 million Rufiyaa. “ When we get these crafts, we can stop renting the boats we use now, and because of that a lot of costs will be reduced” said an official of the corporation.

Boats had to be rented because, all the boats which were built during Maumoon’s administration were not maintained by MDP government and the boats were badly damaged because of that.

This company from Goa was previously contracted to build two landing crafts to use in Addu and Fuvahmulah. Even now there are some boats in the Maldives built by the company.

Vijay Marine Shipyard builds quality boards at affordable prices. With these three new crafts and one old one, there will be total 4 crafts belonging to WAMCO. They say that with these 4 crafts, they will be able to manage the waste in Male’ area.
