MP for Dhihdhoo constituency Abdul Latheef have said that he does not believe that former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom will back President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom in 2018 elections.
Speaking on a program on Sungu TV, Latheef said that a lot of people now believe that Maumoon will not back President Yameen in 2018 but however people are still reluctant to say it openly.
He further said that, President Yameen can win the election even without Maumoon. “ President Yameen just needs to govern the country well and get the support of the people. Then President Yameen can win the election even without the support of Maumoon” said Latheef.
Latheef said that, President Yameen is now working on acquiring the support of the masses. “There are developmental projects all over Maldives. In Dhihdhoo constituency alone, there are projects worth 100 million Rufiyaa underway. People will accept these things with gratitude” said Latheef.
Latheef also noted that, so far they have been unable to solve the internal problems dispites of PPM.
