Fisheries Minister Dr.Muhammad Shainee have said that Saudi Arabia will give 150 million dollars as aid and also assist to build four micro fish factories.
Speaking to the press tonight Dr.Shainee said that the 150 million dollars will be kept in MMA reserve to strengthen the national reserve. He said that, it will increase the guarantee of world financial institutions on Maldivian fiscal state.
“The next step is to complete some technical stuffs and decide on some procedures. Saudi government gave the guarantee that once we are ready they will arrange the money” said Dr.Shainee.
Dr. Shainee said that the 4 micro factories will be given, to overcome the challenges faced due to the financial situation of MIFCO.
“The factories will be established in 4 areas where the fisheries industry is going well. Because of this the productivity will increase and the revenue made by MIFCO also will be increased. Also this will create new job opportunities for the islanders” said Dr.Shainee.
Dr.Shainee said the relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia is very special now and Saudi government gave the guarantee that they will assist Maldives in the international arena as well.
Dr.Shainee denied the claims made by the opposition members who said that the President went to Saudi because, the government was unable to pay the salaries of the civil srvants even.
Dr.Shainee said that the government is economically stable and that this government will complete the 5 year term with constant stability. “I give my assurance that this government will not fail economically” Dr.Shainee assured.
