President Maumoon puts PPM PG in their place

PPM’s President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has put PPM’s PG in their place by saying that the only mandate of PPM PG is to do work related to the parliament.

This message was delivered by Yumna Maumoon, Maumoon’s daughter. Speaking on behalf of her father, Yumna tweeted saying that PPM PG can only do works related to the parliament.

Maumoon made this statement as a response to the PG group when they said that they are trying to hold talks between President Yameen and Maumoon.

Ruling party, PPM’s parliamentary group has decided to hold talks with President Yameen and former President Maumoon who is also the president of the party. However, they have not revealed how they plan to do this.

The PG of PPM made this decision at a time, where it is feared that PPM might come to a standstill due to the rift within the party. Yesterday, Maumoon said that he will not conduct a PPM council meeting, unless the three members who filed lawsuit against him apologizes to him.

Which means, that these three members have the power to bring PPM to a standstill by not apologizing to Maumoon.

Government requested political parties to make sure that their representatives for the all-party talks are nominated via the party council. However, PPM changed their representatives without consulting with the council. Hence the government decided not to accept the representatives nominated by PPM. Dr.Mohammed Shainee the senior representative of the government in the talks said that even PPM should send representatives who are nominated by the party council.
