Will repay the debts -Need another term to repay old debts: President Yameen

President Yameen have said that he will repay the debts of this country, and that he needs another term to repay the huge debts incurred by previous governments.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of water and sewage systems development project in Fuvahmulah, the President said that the project is worth 297 million Rufiyaa and the next project the government plans to start in Fuvahmulah is very big as well.

“Building a seawall around Fuvahmulah is not a small project. That is 22 million Euro. Or around 26 million dollars. (around 442 million Rufiyaa). We are talking with some countries. With the will of God, some success is rising” said the President.

President Yameen vowed to build a seawall around Fuvahmulah during this administration. He said that this is a much needed project for Fuvahmulah: an island with more than 12,000 people.

The President said that, he came to power, to develop Maldives and to make the people of Maldives happy and rich as well. “I will do it.” He said that to attain that goal, the government is conducting various projects all over the Maldives.

President also noted the advancements this government has brought to the health sector of Maldives. He said that, the Cath lab in IGMH is doing 20-30 procedures per day. He also assured that a cancer treatment center will be established in IGMH before the end of this year.

“Previously, if someone is faced with a problem like this, they would have to beg for money for days and go abroad for treatment. Even if one is able to go abroad, how long can that person stay abroad? Now we are doing it without making anyone beg for it. We are providing these services in the Maldives day tp day” said the President

President Yameen said that people did not start suffering from cancer or get cardiovascular diseases only in this administration and even before people do get these diseases. President said that previous governments also got the opportunity to solve these problems but failed to do it.

“All the governments tried to do these things. They did things based on their capabilities” said the President. He assured that his government is capable of providing services to the people.
