PPM’s President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has removed PPM’s VP Abdul Raheem Abdullah and two others from PPM Council. Also, Maumoon appointed former Home Minister Umar Naseer to the council of PPM.
The letter sent to Abdul Raheem by Maumoon says that he was removed because Abdul Raheem was working contrary to the rules and regulations of PPM. It further said that even though the party regulation says that the VP should be assisting the President, Abdul Raheem is involved in activities like signing petitions without the consent or knowledge of Maumoon. In addition, it said that another reason he was removed is because he kept defaming Maumoon on the media.
The other two members who were removed are Zaahid Rameez and Ibrahim Yousufufulhu. Zaahid was appointed to the council by Maumoon and Ibrahim Yousufufulhu is the President of the Youth branch of PPM.
The letter sent to Zaahid by Maumoon says that in recent times Zaahid has been acting against the rules and regulations of PPM and he uses extremely vulgar language on social media. Maumoon further said that he does not want to see such actions from a member appointed by the President of the party.
The letter sent to Ibrahim Yousuf says that, Ibrahim is now 31 years old and only people under the age of 31 can be in the youth branch of PPM and hence the regulations of the party does not allow him to remain in the position.
Maumoon has appointed Umar Naseer to the party council.
