Dhiraagu has started a campaign to collect plastic bags and other plastic waste, to send it abroad for recycling. Dhiraagu is conducting this campaign in association with Parle and Beem NGO.
The campaign was officially launched by Dhiraagu brand ambassador Abdul Ghafoor Ali Gabbe in a ceremony held this morning at Dhiraagu head office.
They have planned many activities under this campaign. Dhiraagu said that the purpose of this campaign is encourage people to use reusable bags instead of disposable plastic bags. Dhiraagu said that they will give all the customers who visit Dhiraagu a free reusable bag. In addition, they plan to conduct activities for school children, to raise awareness on the importance of using reusable bags. Furthermore, they plan to clean up the lagoon of Male’.
Under this campaign there will be a plastic waste collecting point in all Dhiraagu offices. All the plastic materials used in Dhiraagu offices and also the plastic in the homes of their staffs can be taken to this collecting point to send abroad for recycling. The waste will be sent to Paale via Beem NGO.
