Civil court has ordered President Yameen who is the chief advisor to the party, to take control of the party till the council of PPM decides how to run the party.
The verdict by the court says that PPM’s President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is unable to operate the party.
Council member of PPM, Moosa Zameer said that they wanted to solve the problems in PPM through dialogue instead of going to court. He said that they had to go to court as a last resort. Zameer said that they are planning to hold a council meeting within the next 24 hours.
“Now the party can be run. Civil Court has given the permission to the Chief Advisor to run the party” said Zameer.
Civil Court issued this order after two MPs of PPM, Ahmed Shiyam and Mohamed Shaahid filed a law suit. The verdict of the court says that the President of PPM is operating the party against the rules and regulations of the party. In addition, it said that, the party regulation shows that the president of the party can make advisory committees with the approval of the party council, but all other committees formed without the approval of the council will be invalid.
Furthermore, it said that the President of PPM also disobeyed the previous orders of Civil Court.
Previously the Court ordered Maumoon to remove the suspension of all the party branches. However, Maumoon did not obey this order.
