Afaaf Abdul Majeed, wife of former Defense Minister Colonel Nazim have said that one can only know how it feels to be punished unfairly when they experience it.
Speaking to the press on behalf of Nazim’s family, Afaaf said that her husband is being punished unfairly and unjustly. She said that she requests the government, to at least provide him the opportunity to seek healthcare.
Afaaf said that Naazim’s condition is serious and he is in danger. She said that the problem with his eye is still not cured and they could not find a way to cure him. She further said that they had to return from Singapore the last time, without doing the necessary surgeries due to a letter sent by correctional services asking him to return.
Afaaf said that, India has the best facilities to cure diseases related to the eye, but the government only gave him permission to go to Singapore.
“The doctor has said that if surgery is not done he will lose his eye sight. Last time they said that the medical board is looking into it. Now it has been so long. The doctor from Maldives also said the same.
Still they have not arranged to send him abroad to seek treatment. If Nazim’s health deteriorates because of this, Correctional Service should take full responsibility” said Afaaf.
Nazim’s brother Adam Azim said that his brother Nazim is being held hostage by the state institutions. He said that the government is punishing Nazim and his family. He said that believing that President Yameen might not be aware of these things happening to a former Defense Minister of his, they have informed President Yameen about this, but still has not received any response from the President.
