PPM has decided to establish the party’s office on local council elections in Hakuraa Maalam of Dharubaaruge.
Speaking to Miadhu, the SG of PPM Dr.Abdullah Khaleel said that they will open the office in the next 2-3 days and will start their work.
“It is not an administrative office of PPM. But a special office space we rented to use for council elections” said Dr. Khaleel.
Dr. Khaleel said that the work of this office will be conducted by the committee appointed for council elections in the third council meeting of PPM in this year. He said that everything is being done according to rules and regulations of PPM.
Meanwhile the Maumoon faction of PPM conducted a press briefing to inform how they will conduct all the works related to the council elections.
According to officials from Maumoon faction of PPM, 250 people have expressed interest to run in the council elections and more people can still apply to run with party ticket till 30th of this month. The officials also said that the party’s president is Maumoon and the official office of the party is H.Themaa.
Based on the information given by EC, they do not recognize the Maumoon faction of PPM now. EC now recognizes PPM as ordered by the Civil Court two days ago. That is the PPM that is now being administered by the Chief Advisor of PPM, President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
SG Khaleel requested President Maumoon to handover administrative documentation like membership data base of PPM.
