Construction work of Hulhumeedhoo waste management center has been contracted to Alan Express for 1.8 million Rufiyaa. According to the contract, the project should be completed within 45 days.
Environment Minister Thoriq said after the center is completed, there will be facilities to sort out the waste and also some recycling facilities. He said that the center will be up to modern standards.
Speaking about the government programs to manage waste in Addu and Male’ Thoriq said that government will start an awareness raising program by the time waste collection company officially starts working in Male’.
Thoriq also said that, a waste manegement area will be created once land is allocated from the newly reclaimed industrial village.
