The Chancellor of Islamic University, Dr.Muhammad Shaeem Ali Saeed have said that the target of IUM is to train enough professionals in the field of Islamic Finance in Maldives and with the will of Allah they will achieve that target.
Speaking to Miadhu, Dr.Shaheem said that by next year they will make a special faculty for Islamic Finance. He said that however, they will start Islamic Finance diploma and masters courses under another faculty.
Dr.Shaheem said that they have made a special unit for this even now. He said that this unit was made under Faculty of Islamic Revealed knowledge. He said that they will also establish a faculty of Economics next year.
He said that since the number of people trained in Islamic Finance is very less in Maldives at present, companies such as Hajj Cooperation which needs their services face various challenges.
Dr.Shaheem said that he wants to see Maldivians working in the field of Islamic Finance in Maldives and that he wants to make sure that they are highly knowledgeable and well educated in the field. He also said that by January intake, there will be scholarship opportunities to study in the field of Islamic Finance.
