Holding office in the past does not entitle one to become the President anymore
President Yameen have said that holding office in the past does not entitle one to become the President anymore and that those days are long gone by. President said that now, one can become the President depending on how much that person is successful in implementing the manifesto.
Speaking to the people of Kanditheemu, President said that a party can win office after making different proposals to the people and getting them interested in it. He said that it is not an easy thing to do.

That is done by explaining to the people what the government plans to do. Hence, abandoning the party ideology after winning the election is not an option. That is a big mistake. Legally this is possible. But, each person becomes who he/she is by honoring his/her own word. That is the social bond between the people and the elected official” said the President.
