STO is not a liability anymore, but a profitable company that serves the nation : President Yameen

President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom have said that the days when STO was a liability has ended and now it is a profitable company serving the nation.

Speaking to the people of Shaviyani Kanditheemu, President noted that STO is now a very successful company. President noted that STO imports various goods needed for the country and engages in various social responsibility programs. “Only recently STO has opened a pharmacy in all the islands including islands with smallest population” President remarked.

President said that the country can be developed by strengthening government owned corporations. He said that all the companies of the government are now are high achievers in their respective fields.

President highlighted the achievements of MTCC, MWSC and Fenaka. President said that it is not only the responsibility of government to provided services to the people but also it is a responsibility of private companies as well. President noted that the government has allowed private companies to engage in businesses without any restrictions.
