The Director General of Marine Research Center, Dr.Mohamed Shihaam said that while there are 120, resorts in Maldives a lot of these resorts have marine biologists. He said that even though most of the researchers are foreigners, a lot of Maldivians are also working in these centers.

Dr.Shihaam also noted that three private groups are also running marine research centers in Maldives. He further said that, even with the limited resources, they work hard to do researches on the marine lives found in Maldives.

The marine research center of Maldives has been running for 32 years now. While almost all the economic activities of Maldives are related to the marine life, it is important to further develop the marine research center.
