Masjid Ah Thaqwa- the mosque built in Hd Neykurendhoo by Saudi government has been opened officially today.
The mosque was officially opened after Asr prayers today, by Islamic Minister Dr.Ziyad Baaqir and by the Saudi Ambassador to Maldives Muthrik Ahdhasaury. The ceremony was attended by senior figures of Islamc Ministry and the Saudi Embassy as well.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr.Ziyad talked about the importance of strengthening religious ideology in the country. Dr.Ziyad also thanked Saudi Arabia for their continuous assistance to Maldives in various fields.
Minister said that, this signifies the close relationship between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Minister thanked the king of Saudi Arabia on behalf of all Maldivians. Minister said that religious ideology should be stronger than any other ideology and that worldly philosophies should not be prioritized. He further said that a good society can be built upon by strengthening the Islamic ideology of the people.
Minister said that Maldives has the cleanest mosques in the world and like the mosques, the heart of the people should also be clean. He emphasized on the importance of reciting quran, learning hadees and encouraged people to pray often.
So far 4 mosques have been constructed with Saudi aid in Maldives. That is 1 in Laamu atoll, 2 in Raa atoll and 1 in Neykurendhoo. The mosque in Neykurendhoo has a capacity of 540 people. The mosque costs a total of 5.6 million rufiyaa and is very beautiful.
