Defence Minister Adam Shareef have said that there are people who disagree politically, but no one disagrees that Islam should be the only religion in Maldives.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Islamic Fair, Adam Shareef said that Maldivians want to promote Islam in Maldives and hence NGOs, individuals and companies are doing several works to promote Islamic principles in Maldives. He said that because of that, Maldives is getting a good name at an international level as well.
Adam Shareef said that Islamic fair allows various like minded NGOs and individuals to get together and exchange ideas. He said that in addition to that, various religious scholars are also able to get together through such fairs.
He further said that, the number of people who want to get religious education and to serve the religion is increasing in Maldives and this is a great achievement in promoting the principles of Islam in the country.
The minister thanked everyone who is involved in promoting Islam in Maldives.
