Met JP to discuss on ways to establish a democratic environment in Maldives : Maumoon
Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom have said that he met with Jumuhoory Party today to discuss on ways to establish a true democratic system in Maldives.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Maumoon said that he met with JP to discuss on how to establish a truly democratic system in Maldives based on Islamic principles and principles set in Maldivian constitution.

“Today we discussed on how we can provide the people with a system with separated powers. We have a presidential system. We chose this system after a referendum. In this system, different powers of the states does not influence each other. But today we see that one branch of the state is influencing all others. Even independent insitutions are powerless. Everyone is forced to obey the order of one individual” said Maumoon.

Maumoon said that they can further decide on how both parties can work together after holding further discussions. He said that he will continue discussion with JP. “ We started an important diologue with JP. God willing, this will end in a way which is beneficial for the people” said Maumoon.

Maumoon said that he will hold talks with other political parties as well.
