Lankan companies can make profit in Maldives via developmental projects and through investments : Zaahiya

Maldivian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Zaahiya Zareer have said that Sri Lankan companies can make profit in Maldives via developmental projects and through investments.

Zaahiya made this statement while speaking at a seminar held by Lanka Chamber of Commerce to give information about the investment and business opportunities in Maldives.

Zaahiya said that the government is carrying out various developmental projects and that Lankan companies also can apply to work on these projects. She further said that Lankan companies are also welcome to invest in Maldives.

Because of the increase in taxes in Lanka recent times, the trade between Maldives and Lanka has decreased in the past few years. However on weekends still a lot of Maldivians visit Lanka and also because a lot of Maldivians live in Lanka, they benefit from it.

John keels and Atken Spence of Lanka are already making profits through their investments in the tourism sector of Maldives. Some other companies are investing as well. In addition, Sierra company of Lanka has also won many bids to conduct the largest ever sewage systems project in the Maldives.
