President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of solidarity to His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, King of Saudi Arabia and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, condemning the ballistic missile attack on the holy city of Makkah by the Houthi militia.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with deep shock and anger that I learnt of the ballistic missile attack on the holy city of Makkah by the Houthi militia, targeting innocent people in Saudi Arabia and the greater Muslim Ummah. The Government and the people of Maldives are profoundly concerned and disturbed by this news, and join me in condemning this heinous act of terror and hostility in the strongest terms.”
“The Maldives remains fully committed to the fight against terrorism and will continue to work closely with the Government of Saudi Arabia and the international community in eliminating this global threat.”
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Maldives, and on my own behalf, I wish to express our firm solidarity with Saudi Arabia, and in all its efforts in maintaining peace and security in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region.”
