Maldives elected as the chair of AOSIS for two more years
Maldives has been elected as the chair of Alliance of Small Island States for two more years.

Maldives was initially elected till the end of this year, but it has been extended till end of 2018 now.
This happened since, Seychelles gave it’s right to the leadership of AOSIS to Maldives. The organization accepted the decision of Seychelles yesterday.

Speaking to Miadhu News, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim said that Maldives could do this, because small island nations supports environmental campaigns of Maldives. He also said that this shows, that these countries value the work that is being done by Maldives.

Thoriq said that hence all the countries has signed the agreement made at Cop 25, the next step would be to implement it. He said that all the countries support the plans made by Maldives to implement the plan.
