Maldives Police Service have said that more than 3000 police officers will be active all over the country during the upcoming council elections.
The police revealed this after a ceremony held to sign an agreement with EC to provide assistance during the elections. A total of 480 ballot boxes will be kept and on average there will be 6 police officers per ballot box.
At the ceremony, officials from EC said that even without an agreement police was providing assistance but an agreements will further help in mutual cooperation.
Elections Commission said they will get assistance from police before and even on the day of the elections. Police assured that they will provide all the assistance needed by EC.
3000 police officers will attend to local council election issues.
