Hulhumeedhoo fish cannery work is delayed because the ground is not levelled – Adhlee
The CEO of MIFCO, Adhlee Ismail have said that the work of Hulhumeedhoo Fisheries Complex is being delayed because the ground allocated to build the cold storage has not yet been leveled
.
Adhlee said that the ground levelling work will be finished by next week. He said that the work was contracted to MRDC. He said that the work got delayed because an excavator of MRDC malfunctioned. However, Adhlee said that the work will be finished by next week.
Adhlee said that the sand required to level the ground has also been arranged now.

“The cannery’s work was delayed a bit because the ground was leveled near the harbor only. The land allocated for cold storage was not leveled. We have talked with MRDC now and by next week it will be done” said Adhlee.

The structure of the factory has been completed now and the roofing has also been complete. Adhlee said that the next step is interior works. However, that can be started once the ground is leveled. Adhlee said that the contractors even complained because the leveling is being delayed. Contractors are complaining because the delay will result in damaging the cement brought for the construction.

Adhlee said that various facilities will be available at the factor. He said that there will be a three room apartment, entertainment zone, workshop and a marina. The foundation stone of the building was laid on 8th January 2016 by Fisheries Minister Dr.Mohammed Shainee. Adhlee said that the complex will provide 200 jobs to Addu. The project is financed with a loan from BML.
