MP for Makunudhoo constituency, Anaara Naeem have said that, the budget committee should uphold the pledges made by the President to the people of the islands

Speaking about the budget in parliament today, Anara said that the president made some pledges to the people of Makunudhoo this year and she cannot see some of those promised projects in the proposed budget. She said that she believes that the budget committee which has the government majority, should resolve these issues.
She said that, this government talked about building a jail in Neykurendhoo since assuming office but it was not budgeted for next year either.
Futhermore she said that deducting from the salaries given for working in extra hours by civil servants will have a negative impact on a lot of staffs. She said that many problems will rise when incomes go low and cost of living goes high. Anara said that there are 670 political positions in Maldives and their salary is equal to fifty percent salary of all civil servants. She said that this is something the authorities should think about.
