Budget oversight committee has decided not to increase the budget of independent institutions

Budget oversight committee has decided to pass the budget as proposed by Finance Ministry, without increasing the budget of the independent institutions.

Budget oversight committee made this decision after a motion proposed by MP for Maafannu constituency Asma Rasheed. Meanwhile Department of Judicial Administration released a statement, expressing concern because 100 million Rufiyaa was deducted from their budget.

Leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim proposed to increase the budget of DJA bu 100 milli9on Rufiyaa to cater their demands. However, Qasim’s motion did not get enough support from the committee.

Speaking at the committee today, the Finance Minister Munavvar said that the budget was made after much research and if institutions are in serious need of additional budget, the government will allocate it from the contingency budget.
