Dr. Muhammad Shaheem the Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives have said that being able to offer PhD courses just within a year and a half after the university was formed is a huge and great achievement to the Institution.
He made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of the religious scholar’s conference which started this morning.
Dr.Shaheem said that they have started offering world class courses just few days after they started the university. He said that international professors are teaching at the university and they have made partnerships with world famous universities.
Some of the universities working with IUM include, Al-Azhar University, Medina University, Islamic International University of Malaysia, Malaysian Global University of Islamic Finance, Areej International University of Turkey, Al-Shareef Islamic University of Brunei, Islamic International University of Islamabad and many other universities like Imaam Mohammed Bin Saud University of Saudi Arabia.
“Even during the sidelines of this conference, we will sign an agreement with a Pakistani University. We have planned to signed one with Medina university as well but facing a small delay due to an administrational change at that university” said Dr.Shaheem.
Dr.Shaheem said that, Maldives and the Islamic world has become closer because of Islamic University. “With the will of Allah the relations will become stronger in future” said Dr.Shaheem.
He further said that IUM is getting full cooperation from foreign universities and is receiving scholarships as well. He said that even now they have received four scholarships from Islamic International University of Malaysia. These were given from International Institute of Islamic Thought.
“Another happy news that I want to give is that, students of IUM who want to study in Al Shareef Islamic University of Brunei, will receive full scholarship including accommodation. That university offers various options. The Vice Rector of that university Professor Dr.Mohammed Hussain is right here at the moment” said Dr.Shahee.
Dr.Shaheem thanked everyone who is helping the Islamic University in all ways.
