Dr.Aishath Khaleel have said that rent control can be implemented under Islamic Shariah regulations.
Dr.Aishath said this in a paper delivered to the Religious scholar’s conference earlier today.
Dr.Aishath said that as per Shariah, things that causes negative effects to the society can be intervened according to Shariah. Hence, if the society is in a bad shape due to increasing rents, the rent can be controlled as per Shariah.
Dr.Aishath noted that somethings which are allowed in Islam but banned in our society such as marrying on our own, and MNDF soldiers marrying foreigners.
If a research is done, it is highly possible that high rents are of greater concern than unregulated marriages.
