The MD of STO, Ahmed Shaheer have said that his target is to make Bashi Ball a national sport and include it in the national sports calendar.
Shaheer made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of the STO Bashi Ball championship. “Our target is to make Bashi Ball a national sport and include it in the national sports calendar. Last year sports ministry indicated that they will include Bashi Ball in the calendar. So I believe that in the upcoming year, Bashi Ball will be included in the calendar” Said Shaheer.
He said that Bashi Ball became what it is today with great efforts from STO. He said that STO started organizing competitions 6 years ago during a time when the sport has died down all over the Maldives.
In addition, Shaheer said that STO is among one of the top companies in Maldives which empowers women. “ This will be evident if you look at our staff counters and even if you look at our top management and board” said Shaheer.
