State Minister for Health, Dr.Habeeb have said some Maldivians who seek health care from abroad have been told by top foreign hospitals that the services they received from Maldives are actually the best possible services that one can receive anywhere in the world.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Maldives Medical and Health Expo, Dr.Habeeb said that famous hospitals like Mount Elizabeth Hospital of Singapore has given answers as such to Maldivians.
He said that some of the health services provided in Maldives are world class and the next step is people accepting this. He said that even the best doctor in the world or the best hospital in the world can make a mistake. He said that errors cannot be avoided completely and the reason that there are plans to avoid errors is because possibility of errors cannot be eliminated entirely.
In addition, Dr.Habeeb said that the public is unaware about some of the medical procedures available in Maldives. “Some people travel to India for procedures that cost 6000 dollars. In addition for other expenses it will cost 1000 dollars. So altogether 7000 dollars. Same procedures are available in Maldives. With Aasandha coverage it costs only 35000 Rufiyaa which is nearly just 2000 $ in Maldives” said Dr.Habeeb.

Dr.Habeeb said that the quality of medical services available in Maldives is increasing and a competitive market will improve the services further.
